Feature opens up a wide range of cross-selling opportunities

Virtual bundles are nothing completely new on Amazon. However, until recently, they were only available to vendors and even they had to deal with problems when Amazon once again proactively bundled competitor products with their own. Something is changing here now!

Since a few days virtual bundles are now also available for sellers. In the past few weeks, the feature was made available for Marketplace Brands. In the first step, only in the USA, but the launch on the German marketplace is to follow soon. This offers great potential for you as a retailer in terms of cross-selling and up-selling your products.

We have already summarized the most important information and the basic differences to the previous bundle model for you.

What do the virtual bundles look like so far?

Virtual bundles have been available on the German Amazon Marketplace for several years now. Until now, however, they were only accessible to vendors and it was and is not really possible to create good and relevant content for the respective bundles. In addition, the advertising opportunities are also not a factor to further push one's own brand within the bundles. The biggest disadvantage of the previous bundle model is certainly that Amazon sometimes creates bundles with competitor products or incompatible products arbitrarily.

What will the "new" virtual bundles for sellers look like?

In the first step, the virtual bundle is now also made available to sellers in the USA. Big advantage: The bundles get their own SKU and the content can be optimized for the Amazon algorithm as usual.

Furthermore, it should be possible to specifically place advertising for the listing. However, this point has not yet been officially confirmed by Amazon. In our opinion, however, the biggest advantage is the new and clear preview of the bundles.

On the product detail page of the individual products, customers are thus informed of the possibility of purchasing the desired product in one or more different bundles. The products can therefore be combined by the end customer as desired with just a few clicks. To do this, their attention is drawn to the attractively designed bundle option "Make it a bundle", which is located directly below the bullet points.

What do you need to keep in mind?

  • An invitation or access to the Brand Registry is required.
  • At least 2 to a maximum of 5 ASINs are possible as a bundle.
  • The creation of multiple packages is not envisaged.
  • The bundle products can be transmitted to the end customer in different deliveries, depending on the storage location of the individual products, as these are not physical bundles but actually virtual bundles.

 

Conclusion

The new virtual bundle will bring great added value, which holds a lot of potential for you as a manufacturer. From a brand perspective, the virtual bundle can be used to sell several products at the same time without incurring any significant additional expense. Bundles can also be optimally used during high-traffic periods such as Prime Day or Black Friday and Cyber Monday to draw attention to the diversity of a product range. We will soon be able to draw our first experiences from the USA Bundles and will of course inform you about this.
