THE BEGINNING OF THE STORY AND THE START INTO THE ONLINE WORLD

Originally from the living room, the former company was founded as an online shop for underwear. Our founder & managing director Stefan Gutheil is the 3rd generation of a longstanding textile trading family.

After his studies and 2 years as a trainee at Nestlé in Frankfurt, it was time to start his own business. Thanks to the existing network in the textile industry and the weakness for online and eCommerce, the path was marked out. The first Shopware shops were set up and online marketing began.

From the living room to the business park. With almost 300 sqm of storage space and high shelves as well as 2 small offices, the next steps could be taken. New underwear brands were added week after week and in the course of 2015 all relevant underwear brands in the DACH region (approx. 25) were on the central shop platform. Marketing also took off.


In addition to Google Adwords, other channels such as Amazon, affiliate marketing, lead generation, SEO, social media advertising and finally display advertising were integrated and initiated. By the end of 2015, the shop generated almost €400,000 in monthly sales. At the same time, the premises were expanded so that by the end of 2016, almost 2,000 square metres of warehouse + office space were available.

This request completely challenged the vision of that time. questioned. Due to the success on Amazon, a test run was over several months until Q2 2018. The success and and the direct cooperation with the manufacturer had a positive significantly increased sales.

Due to the existing infrastructure, ICONIC not only took over the creation of product listings. Rather, a complete package was put together. The internal photo studio was used to create new product images and enrich them with additional information.

At the same time, the warehouse and shipping facilities were used to manage goods from the manufacturer as an external warehouse and ship them directly to the end customer.
Furthermore, the complete account including customer service, advertising campaigns, communication with Amazon, inventory management, pricing strategy, brand protection, etc. was taken over so that everything was controllable. The immense success in the six-month test phase was the decisive reason why it was decided at this point to move away from retail and become a service provider. The vision of ICONIC SALES was born. Market figures, developments, feedback from other manufacturers, direct enquiries from other large companies increasingly substantiated this decision.
