THE BEGINNING OF THE STORY AND THE START INTO THE ONLINE WORLD

Originally started from a living room, the company was founded as an online shop for underwear. Our founder & CEO, Stefan Gutheil, is the 3rd generation of a long-standing textile trading family.

After university and 2 years as a trainee at Nestlé in Frankfurt, it was time to start his own business. Thanks to the existing network in the textile industry and a passion for online and eCommerce, the path was clear. The first Shopware shops were set up and online marketing began.

From the living room to the business park. With almost 300 square meters of storage space and high shelves as well as 2 small offices, the next steps could be taken. New underwear brands were added week by week and in the course of 2015, all relevant underwear brands in the DACH region (approx. 25) were on the central store platform. Marketing also got underway.

In addition to Google Adwords, other channels such as Amazon, affiliate marketing, lead generation, SEO, social media advertising and finally display advertising were integrated and initiated. By the end of 2015, the store was generating almost €400,000 in monthly sales. At the same time, the premises were expanded so that by the end of 2016, almost 2,000 square meters of warehouse + office space were available.

This request completely challenged the vision of the past. Due to the success on Amazon, a trial run was decided upon for several months until Q2 2018. The success and direct cooperation with the manufacturer proved fruitful and significantly increased sales.

With its existing infrastructure, ICONIC took over more than just the creation of product listings. A comprehensive package was assembled. The internal photo studio was utilized to create new product images and enrich them with additional information.

At the same time, the warehousing and shipping facilities were used to hold goods from the manufacturer as an external warehouse and ship directly to the end customer. Additionally, the complete account including customer service, advertising campaigns, communication with Amazon, inventory management, pricing strategy, brand protection, and more was managed, allowing everything to be controlled. The immense success of the half-year test phase was the decisive reason for the shift away from trading and towards becoming a service provider at that point. The vision of ICONIC SALES was born. Market figures, developments, feedback from other manufacturers, and direct enquiries from further large companies increasingly substantiated this decision.
